Things to Do on Chartres Street

July 23 2015 | News

As one of the four streets that frame Jackson Square, Chartres Street a charming yet calmer gem in the famous French Quarter. It’s not only home to two of our favorite hotels, Hotel Provincial and Hotel Le Richelieu, the street is full of enchanting architecture and New Orleans culture with delicious dining and alluring shops.

Enjoy a tasty Sunday Jazz Brunch in true New Orleans fashion at well-known Muriel’s Jackson Square. The 19th century building will transport you into old-world New Orleans surrounded by elegance while enjoying classic Creole dishes. Or travel even further back in time at Feelings Café where Creole dishes will delight you in the 18th century building that captures a timeless feeling found throughout the French Quarter.

The historical street wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the three museums: Presbytere, Louisiana State Museum, Cabildo, a history museum situated in an 18th century building, and New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, an apothecary turned museum.

Roam through the streets, popping into different store fronts along the way. One of our favorites in the Librarie Book Shop, where you’ll find classic collections of books scattered throughout. And of course, fashion doesn’t miss a beat in the French Quarter so it’s no surprise you’ll find plenty of stores on Chartres Street: everything from vintage to trendy.
