Oyster Fest in the French Quarter

May 28 2015 | News

In New Orleans, we have a festival to celebrate almost everything including one of our favorite shelled seafoods: oysters. The festival is Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31 in Woldenberg Park in the French Quarter, right along the riverfront.

You’ll be able to enjoy ‘em raw, fried, and chargrilled. Don’t worry Oyster Fest also comes with tasty oyster dishes like oyster po-boys, oyster boudin, and even Fois Gras Oysters.

What would an oyster festival be without an a few contests: Cheer on your favorite shucker Saturday, May 30 in P&J Shucking’s annual contest and participate in Acme Oyster’s Oyster Eating Contest Sunday, May 31.

As with any New Orleans festival, it will be filled with live entertainment, art, and more! If you’re not a fan of oysters, the festival has you covered too (although we do recommend giving them another go.)

Some of New Orleans best restaurants will be represented including: Acme Oyster House, Andrea’s, Antione’s, Arnauds, Borgne, Bourbon House, Café Reconcile, Café Hope, Desire Oyster Bar, Drago’s The Famous Gumbo Pot, Haydel’s Bakery, Jacques-Imo’s Café, Katie’s Restaurant,  Le Bayou, NOLA Snoballs, Oceana Restaurant, Royal House, Red Fish Grill, Sac-A-Lait, Superior Seafood,  and Trenasse.
