It’s a bummer, isn’t it? You missed the French Quarter Fest and it’s too late to get a reasonable airfare for Jazz Fest. But you know what? Even those two events will soon be water under the Huey P. Long Bridge, Memorial Day Weekend is just around the bend. From May 25-28, New Orleans has not one, not two, but three events going on at the same time. Here’s what’s up.
The New Orleans Food and Wine Experience, May 25-28
Do you come to New Orleans just to eat? You’re not alone. This year, more than two dozen chefs throughout the city are putting their torques together for the 25th New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. There will be special dining evenings, grand wine tasting events, promenade evenings in the French Quarter, and a seminar series for foodies and oenophiles alike. And, if your clothes still fit, you can even attend the gala at the end of the event. To learn more, visit http://www.experienceneworleans.com/new-orleans-wine-and-food.html
Greek Fest, May 26-28
If you loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding, you’ll love this family-friendly event at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on the bayou. There will be live Greek music and dancing, authentic Greek food, Hellenic dance performances, cooking demonstrations and more. Bring your bedroom sheets and enter the toga contest. Get your “opa” on! For more information, go to http://www.experienceneworleans.com/greek-festival.html
Bayou Country Superfest, May 27-28
Are you more than a little bit country? Pull on your cowboy boots and head over to the Superdome to see Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Brooks and Dunn, Rascal Flatts, Hank Williams, Jr. and more in person! The three-day Superfest kicks off with a free evening concert outside in Champions Square, which will also be the site of Fan Fest where you can get autographs (and maybe even selfies) with your favorite stars.
