The dog days of August have arrived, and you know what that means? Lots of exciting events throughout the Big Easy! Here are some of our favorites.
This festival is the perfect way to kick off August. Celebrating the life and music of New Orleans native, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, this French Quarter festival is full of everything we love about New Orleans, music, culture, food and fun!
You don't have to be an art aficionado to enjoy White Linen Night on August 6th & Dirty Linen Night on August 13th, but it does help! These two unique block parties celebrate the art of Julia Street in the New Orleans Arts District as well as the art of Royal Street in the French Quarter. Stroll in and out of galleries and enjoy live music and promotions.
Both events are free. See you there!
Don't be alarmed if you see hundreds of people running through the French Quarter in red dresses on August 13th...It just means it is time for the New Orleans Red Dress Run! Men and women don red dresses, ranging from beautiful ball gowns to fun tutus and celebrate all day in the French Quarter. And the best thing about it is that proceeds from the Red Dress Run benefit over 100 local charities! Have you gotten your red dress yet?
Everyone knows that New Orleans bleeds black and gold. The Saints play the Patriots (away) on Thursday, August 11th and the Texans on Saturday, August 20th. So pick out a favorite New Orleans pub and root the Saints on to victory! And if you are in town on Friday August 26th, head on over to the Superdome and see our beloved Saints take the field in the first home game of the season! Who Dat?!
With all of these exciting August events, you’ll want to book your room soon! Bonus: many of our favorite hotels around town offer lower rates during the month of August.
Located in the heart of the French Quarter, each of the guest rooms and suites in the Hotel Provincial is uniquely furnished with antiques bestowing a warm and relaxing ambiance.
The dedicated and friendly staff of Hotel St. Marie will ensure you experience all of the best of New Orleans' many sights, sounds, and tastes.
